A recap of each month's chapter highlights, written by chapter vice president Lizbeth Delossantos
NOVEMBER 2019
November was full of self motivation! After a long break, our chapter welcomed this year's members with bang at SkillsUSA Day. The day was eventful including teamwork challenges, personal stories from previous members, self evaluations, and a fun school wide team challenge. During this our members worked together to shoot marshmallows, count lockers, match cards, and figure out clues to solve problems. Everyone left with newfound knowledge of the SkillsUSA framework and self-motivation. Most of all, it was a blast for everyone involved!
SkillsUSA also joined NTHS in Operation Defender, helping to write cards of appreciation and encouragement that will be sent to U.S. soldiers deployed overseas.
As November ends our prospects for December grow, as our members clear their schedules to fundraise at Shoprite during the holiday season!

OCTOBER 2019
The month of October has unofficially marked the beginning of our chapter’s work. The month kicked off with a potluck, where we welcomed new members by having returning members bring homemade food for everyone. From mac and cheese to perogies, our members enjoyed a wide array of new foods while getting introduced to the organization. This was soon followed by Project Linus, an annual charitable event where our members handmade blankets that will be given to children in need. We had 21 participants this year who worked together to make 17 blankets. It was an amazing time to make new friends while doing something good! SkillsUSA has had a great start to the school year!
